Roundup: Gators score spot in playoffs

Despite losing 43-9 to Monarch Nov. 1 in their last regular season game, Standley Lake still caught a spot in the 4A State Tournament. The No. 11 Gators will play the No. 6 Windsor in the first round. If they win, they will either play the No. 3 Pine Creek or No. 14 Pueblo West.

Holy Family earned the No. 4 seed in the 3A State Football Championship. The Tigers will play the No. 13 Delta. They will play either No. 5 Elizabeth or No. 12 Glenwood Springs if they beat Delta. Holy Family finished off the regular season with a 51-20 win over Denver North.

The No. 23 Westminster lost in the first round of the 5A State Football Championship to No. 10 Grand Junction 32-8. The Wolves ended their season 5-4 (4-1 in league). Grand Junction is now 8-2.

No. 5 Holy Family volleyball earned a spot in the 3A State Volleyball Tournament after going 2-0 at the Region 5 Tournament. The Tigers swept both No. 32 St. Mary's and No. 20 Bennett 3-0. Bennett went 1-1, while St. Mary's went 0-2.
