THORNTON - Horizon’s Kaylie Rader and Legacy’s Caitlin Smith will cap their high school careers in fashion.
The senior duo was recently chosen to play in The Show, which is the annual high school basketball all-star game. The all-star game will be played on April 6 at the Pepsi Center.
It will be the first time chosen for both seniors, with Smith being chosen to the Blue squad and Rader playing on the White squad.
Both Rader and Smith will play collegiately next year, Rader with Wyoming and Smith with Colorado School of Mines.
Former Westminster stars Jordan Dickerson and Sam Hyatt have helped the North Platte Community College Lady Knights advance to the National Tournament.
Dickerson and Hyatt, who are both in their freshman year at North Platte have been key parts of the Lady Knights winning their regional and district titles.
Dickerson had eight points, seven rebounds, and four assists in North Platte’s 64-40 victory over Dakota College at Bottineau.
The Lady Knights faced Mesa Community College on Tuesday in the national tournament (results were not available at press time).
Horizon girls’ soccer team improved to 2-0 overall after beating Pomona 2-0 on Mar. 15.
The Hawks scored two goals in the first half and kept Pomona scoreless in the second half to get the victory.
Bailey Lucero had an assist and a goal, while Darian Drake had a goal. Jessica Phillips also had an assist for Horizon.
Northglenn’s baseball team scored five runs in the sixth to win its season opener 8-1 over Arvada West on Mar. 14.
The Norse only allowed the Wildcats four hits and Arvada West’s lone run came in the seventh.
Skyview girls’ soccer team scored five goals in both halves to top rival Westminster 10-0 on Mar. 14.
Six different players scored goals for the Wolverines, led by senior Jazmyne Escobar had three goals and three assists. Freshman Amanda Carpio and senior Brenda Vasquez each had two goals and one assist.
Samantha Garcia had a goal and an assist and Monica Mondragon chipped in a goal.
Mountain Range girls’ soccer team lost 4-3 to Fort Collins on Mar. 14.
No. 2 singles Kristen Kirby and No. 3 singles Renee Phillips each won in straight sets.
The Mustangs also lost their season opener 6-1 to Poudre on Mar. 13.
