Golfers converge on Westminster for amateur tournament

More than 96 amateur golfers from around the world came to Westminster’s Walnut Creek Golf Preserve June 4-7 for the Amercian Junior Golf Associaton’s Hale Irwin Colorado Junior tournament.

Loveland’s Lauren Lehigh shot a girls’ division first round low score of 2-under 70 on the first day and finished with a seven-over-par score of 223. She was top local female golfer of the tournament, finishing third overall.

Savannah Grewal of Ontario, Canada, claimed the top spot in the girl’s division with a one-under-par 215.

Dillon Stewart of Fort Collins claimed the top spot for the boys division with a 10-under-par score of 206.
