As a ten-year resident of Westminster, I want to commend Mayor Atchison and the City Council for their efforts to take action on climate change. The city already has a lot to be proud of for their work to promote renewable energy. This year the city has taken two important steps to continue this work.
First, they joined the Compact of Colorado Communities This is a group of Colorado cities and counties working to develop plans to address our changing climate while growing local economies.
Secondly, Mayor Atchison joined 14 other Colorado mayors pledging to uphold our commitments to the Paris Climate Accord.
This level of bipartisan commitment to address a global problem with local actions is another reason to be proud of our mayor and city council. I look forward to hearing the details of how the city will monitor progress toward those commitments.
