Letter: Support for a new substation

Posted

I support building a new substation at 120th and Holly so that residents of Thornton can enjoy reliable energy.

I am personally frustrated because I have experienced several outages, sometimes for many hours. When power goes out I am usually doing something on my computer which requires power. I can no longer do what I need to be doing.

Also, if power is out for a number of hours I start to worry about my food in the refrigerator and freezer spoiling.

I then worry about power being out at night, not having power to cook dinner with and having no lights to do anything else. It is just very stressful being without power.

I strongly believe in having reliable consistent power at all times and I believe this substation at 120th and Holly Street will help with a lot less power outages. I hope that City Council and Xcel Energy will make the building the substation a priority. It is not just an inconvenience but a safety issue, and the residents of Thornton should not have to endure energy blackouts any longer!
