Living in geniune Colorado

About me

I worked at a physical therapy clinic for about five or six years, and I always wanted to be a doctor or something in the healing aspect. I went to massage school, and in massage school I saw how powerful acupuncture was in treating a lot of ailments and other things. We toured the acupuncture school, and I was sold. I’ve been doing acupuncture for three or four years now, and I’m loving it. It’s an adventure every day, seeing patients and seeing their reactions to it. I love it when patients feel better. It’s nice to feel that I’m helping in some sort of way, especially in the world now. There’s so much going on that everyone can use calming and relaxing.

I got my master’s of science in acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine, and in January I started a doctorate program in acupuncture and Chinese medicine. The doctorate program is focused on pain and pain management. The goal is to get into hospitals and reduce opiate prescriptions and use acupuncture instead. I fly out once a month to Seattle, where we are working in a hospital. The hospital we are at is diverse and has really extreme cases.

Denver is home

I was born here in Denver; I love Colorado. I haven’t traveled too much, but I’ve been to the beaches, and I just always would love to be home and be by the mountains. Having all the seasons, of course, is the best. The snow is my favorite. But I can’t really say I love snow, I love Colorado snow! I love that it snows and the next day it’s sunny. That’s my kind of snow. Not snow for the whole winter and then we’re stuck there.

I love going to the mountains. Even going for a drive or hiking or just taking short walks out in nature is my calming. Being outside is my hobby and escape from everything. I like to go to Evergreen or Golden.

I love the culture of Denver. A lot of cities are really busy. Colorado is growing fast, but it’s laid back. We’re a little slower, and we’re taking it easy. People will say “good morning” to you and be genuine about it.

If I could be anyone for a moment...

I lean toward Ellen DeGeneres or Oprah, always helping people with selfless acts, the giving aspect of them.
