Metro North economic forecast talk broadens scope

An annual look at the northern Metropolitan Denver economy for the next few years will take in a broader scale this year.

“It was quite granular last year,” Steve Arnold, communications director for the chamber said. “This will be a bit more global or holistic this year.”

The Metro North Chamber of Commerce’s annual economic forecast breakfast is scheduled for 7 a.m. Feb. 16, at the Denver Marriott Westminster, 7000 Church Ranch Boulevard.

Tickets are $35 for members of the chamber and $45 for non-members.

This year’s discussion features two speakers, University of Colorado Leeds School of Business professor Richard Wobbekind, Ph.D., the executive director of the Business Research Division at the Boulder campus. He’ll be joined by futurist Thomas Frey of the DaVinci Institute.

Both talks will focus on the changes, the disruptors and the trends that could lie ahead.

“Wobbekind will frame the economics pieces of it for the year, looking at trends that he sees,” Arnold said. “And then Mr. Frey will talk about bigger picture items that will impact us all, some of which we are not really aware of now. It should be fascinating.”
