Backround: I’m living the American Dream but this dream seemed impossible to me when I was 12. At that age, I found myself escaping the war-torn Communist regime of Laos. At this young age, I became a refugee in Thailand for over two years. It was then I came to Colorado. I became a legal citizen of this great country in 2008. Because of this, so many new opportunities were now possible. I eventually graduated from the University of Denver with a Master’s degree in Information Technology. I have a family with seven wonderful children.

1.) Please describe your leadership style in three words.
A True and experienced Public Servant.
2.) Describe the skills and experience that make you the best candidate for the job.
I truly understand the importance of serving our community. I came to America and with a lot of hard work became a legal citizen, and started a family. I have a successful 21-year career as an IT Professional. These personal and professional experiences, along with over 18 years of serving our communities, make me the right choice.
I am a different type of candidate. I am not someone using political slogans I cannot back up through my experiences. I care deeply about my community and have an 18-year record to prove that, including serving on City Council. I will work to expand outdoor and recreational opportunities, create additional entertainment opportunities in Thornton, promote businesses, and job growth.
My experiences have also allowed me to understand what makes a community great. I knows that strong neighborhoods make strong communities and that is why I will work to expand outdoor and recreational opportunities. Public safety is a MUST and is why over the past 18 years I have volunteered for several organizations that do just this. I know that a strong local economy with job growth also makes strong communities and is why I have and will continue to promote job opportunities right here in Thornton.
3.) Please list your top three priorities if elected.
Expand outdoor and recreational opportunities, promote small businesses and job growth, and to strength public safety so that Thornton continues to be lowest crime rates and ranked #1 on safest in America. I will also work to revive the South Thornton.
4.) How do you see Thornton best taking advantage of the economic boom in Metropolitan Denver?
The 2.4 million square foot Amazon, the recreation center at the Trail Winds and the Thornton Water Project are just a few examples of what Thornton taking advantage of the economic boom in the Metropolitan Denver. There are rooms for strong local economy with job growth in Thornton that is why I promote job opportunities here in Thornton, to make strong communities.
5.) The City Council took a controversial step this summer, enacting stronger regulations on the oil and gas industry despite legal threats from the state. Was this the right thing to do or did the City Council go beyond its authority?
City has little regulatory authority through land use code, traffic impact fees, inspections for compliance with city codes and etc. I don’t think the City Council has much authority over the county, state and federal regarding oil and gas industry. Many people are confused over how oil and gas industry is regulated. There are regulations we need to look at and understand them, and take the public process.
