An annual series of walking tours, designed to help Thornton residents get more familiar with their neighborhoods, kicks off Saturday.
The City of Thornton is inviting all walkers to join in a community walk starting at 9 a.m. Feb. 17. The group will meet in the parking lot of the Northern Lights Little League Complex at 13950 York St. The walk will be a between two and 6.4 miles along a paved and flat route led by city staff. Its is free to the public.
The walking series continues throughout the year with walks are scheduled on March 10, April 14, May 12, June 9, July 7, Aug. 11, Sept. 15, Oct. 13, Nov. 10 and Dec. 15.
Locations for the walks vary, and all start at 9 a.m.
Walkers should wear the appropriate clothing for what the weather will be the day of the walk. The walks will vary in distance and will be held no matter what the weather is. Everyone is welcome to invite other family members, neighbors and dogs.
Walkers are encouraged to bring their water bottles and a small snack if needed. The City’s goal is to introduce the great walking paths that people might not know about as well as encourage people to set some exercise goals and help create a better lifestyle.
