The facility at 104th Avenue and Huron Street that used to house Northglenn Dodge has a new occupant.
Auto Nation has begun construction on its Hyundai dealership and plans to break ground on a new Fiat building soon, said Debbie Tuttle, Northglenn economic development manager.
“They hope to have the final construction and grand opening in November,” she told City Council during its Aug. 13 meeting.
Two other businesses held groundbreakings and grand openings recently: Larkburger, 11985 Washington St., on Aug. 6; and Sinews, 11916 Washington, on July 2. Larkburger is a Colorado-based hamburger chain, and Sinews sells new clothing, accessories and home decorations.
In other economic news, Adams County Head Start has leased about 2,500 square feet of classroom space from the Little Sailors Child Development Center at 11840 Delaware Court, according to a report Tuttle prepared. Head Start will also open a new center in Westminster and close its Federal Heights location.
Immaculate Heart of Mary Food Bank is relocating to a 5,172-square-foot facility at 11426 Pearl St.
Three other businesses are locating to Northglenn: Cash for Gold, 1440 W. 104th; Rocky Mountain CAD Works (computer drafting services), 10650 Irma Drive; and Auto Upholstery by Splash, 11450 N. Huron.
The report also listed two businesses that closed in July: Fix Glass, 1650 Irma, which had been in the city since April 2009; and Wine Works, 2145 E. 120th Ave., which has been in the city since January 2010.
Tuttle told council that staff is busy putting together the first-ever Northglenn Business Appreciation event. Awards will be given out in five categories during an event planned for the second week in November.
