Second-degree burglary, theft: Officers were dispatched July 20 to the 8800 block of Bruce Street in reference to a burglary in progress.
The resident said he had left his house when he realized he forgot something and headed back home.
He saw his relative’s car in his driveway and found him inside going through papers on the kitchen counter.
The resident said the suspect, a 42-year-old Thornton man, would have known where the house key was hidden. The man had left the scene in a silver Saturn before officers arrived.
Taken were $25 in U.S. currency, three soda drinks and one DVD. The suspect turned himself in at the police department after an officer contacted him by phone. He was issued a summons and released pending filing of formal charges.
Possession of marijuana, possession of dangerous weapon, underage possession/consumption of alcohol: Six people were arrested July 21 at 1:59 a.m. after an officer was dispatched to 633 W. 91st Ave. in reference to a person with a gun.
Dispatch advised that someone was standing in front of the building brandishing a shotgun.
Nobody was in possession of a shotgun when officers arrived. When the officers entered the apartment to retrieve the shotgun, they found
it unloaded.
Also found were 1.13 grams of marijuana that could not be tied to anyone.
Issued summonses were an 18-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man from Thornton, two 20-year-old men from Northglenn, an 18-year-old woman from unincorporated Adams County and a 16-year-old Denver teen. All were released.
Theft: A 36-year-old Denver man was arrested July 22 after he tried to steal $17.53 in merchandise from Safeway at 771 Thornton Parkway. He was issued a summons and released.
Fraud and deceit in obtaining a controlled substance/forged prescription, criminal impersonation: A 22-year-old Thornton woman was arrested after she tried to fill a forged prescription at K-Mart at 1400 E. 104th Ave.
She was also found to be in possession of an Aurora woman’s driver’s license.
She was issued a summons and released pending filing of formal charges.
Theft: A 41-year-old Denver woman was arrested July 24 after she tried to steal 12 boxes of wood screws, valued at $138, from The Home Depot at 10003 Grant St.
She was also found to have an outstanding shoplifting warrant out of Lakewood. She was issued a summons and released.
