Girls tennis: Legacy HS to send nine to state 5A meet

The Colorado High School Activities Association released the state 5A tennis pairings May 9.

Legacy High School qualified nine players this year. Eileen Tran opens up play at No. 1 singles against Fort Collins' Evy Sadeh.

All four of the Lightning's doubles teams advanced to state. Megan Mari and Gracie Stapleton faces Mountain Vista's Peyton Hostelley and Olivia Ivankoe in the opening round at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2 doubles, Emma Nguyen and Ava Klein of the Lightning face Alina Mali and Caitlyn Mortimer of Mountain Vista.

At No. 3 doubles, Legacy's Kady Vu and emily Smith take on Fruita Monuemtn's Sienna Gechter and Savanna Mattas. And at No. 4 doubles, LHS' Sydney Williams and Megan Anthony face Cherry Creek's Kate Erickson and Zoey Hao.

Play begins at 9 a.m. Thursday, May 12, at the Gates Tennis Center in Denver.
