Impeach the president

I am writing in support of the impeachment of Donald Trump.

Yes, impeachment is, as his supporters say, an overturning of the election. Trump won the election fair and square — at least by the electoral college.

But the purpose of impeachment is exactly that: to overturn the result of an election where the person elected, the president, can no longer be entrusted with the responsibilities of his office.

He has demonstrated this on most days since the election, but the most egregious was his attempt to have a foreign power influence the outcome of the next election. This happened on a July 25 phone call, the very day after Robert Mueller testified that he had no grounds to indict the president for conspiracy to have a foreign power influence an election. After two years of `no collusion,’ the next day the president colluded.

It was even worse: he extorted as well as colluded. His modus operandi is, when he sees a line, cross it — just to be defiant. Sometimes that line is the law, but he doesn’t care, or even know.

There’s an odd quirk to this: he didn’t even want the investigation - he just wanted the president of Ukraine to say he was investigating Joe Biden, on TV. What’s that about?

It’s just so very clear, he really thinks he didn’t want much - not any real anti-corruption activity - just that little teensy-weensy help he needs to win the next election. It was `perfect.’

Impeach!
