Aurora police continued to work on gaining safe entry into the apartment of mass shooting suspect James Eagen Holmes on July 21. Authorities learned the apartment was booby trapped with explosives and have been on scene at 1690 Paris St. for much of the past day and a half.
By 12:48 p.m. July 21, police reported they had disabled a triggering device through a controlled detonation and were hopeful the threats inside had been eliminated. Police planned to be on scene for several more hours collecting evidence and mitigating hazards.
Holmes is suspected of killing 12 people and wounding dozens more at the Century 16 movie theater at Aurora Town Center shortly after midnight July 20. He was arrested and is being held without bond at the Arapahoe County jail.
