Legacy High School earned a spot in the state 5A football tournament. The Colorado High School Activities Association released the brackets Oct. 30.

The Lightning (8-2 and winners of the class 5A League 2 title) drew the 12th seed and hosts Arvada West (4-6, 2-3 in class 5A League 1) in the first round. Date and time were not immediately available. The winner faces Pine Creek in the second round.

The Lightning wrapped up the regular season with a 42-14 win at Brighton Oct. 28. Quarterback Kullen Lerma was 5-for-9 for 90 yards and a touchdown. Most of the rest of the offense came from running back Tyler Anderson. He ran the ball 17 times for 169 yuards and two touchdowns. Trey Javorek caught the TD pass, one of his three receptions that totaled 40 yards.

No stats were available for Brighton.

Volleyball

Fossil Ridge stopped Legacy 25-13, 25-22, 25-17 in Fort Collins Oct. 27 in the Front Range League tournament.

Alexa Urbina had 11 kills for the ligthning. Taryn McGonigle added seven. No stats were available for the Sabercats.

Legacy downed Fort Collins 25-18, 16-25, 25-22, 25-20 in Broomfield Oct. 25. Layla Knackstedt led the Lambkins with 19 kills. Claire Wagstaff was close behind with nine.
