A Northglenn family remains homeless this week after a midday fire over the weekend seriously damaged their home in the Fox Run subdivision.
North Metro Fire Rescue District Capt. Ross Riley said the fire began shortly before 3:26 p.m. on Jan. 12, when firefighters were responding to a blaze that was engulfing the garage and spreading to the south side exterior portion of a two-story, single-family home at 10646 Madison Way.
Riley said firefighters took immediate measures to protect a neighboring home, extinguish the main body of the fire, search for anyone inside the home and then locate and extinguish a small amount of fire that spread into the home’s attic.
In all, Riley said it took 18 North Metro Fire Rescue District and Thornton Fire Department firefighters about 30 minutes to bring the blaze under control.
All of the home’s occupants were uninjured and able to safely escape the fire.
The residents who had lived in the home were planning to stay with relatives living nearby after the fire damage was determined to be too severe.
As of press time, the cause and origin of the fire was under investigation.
