Northglenn Arts kicks off its annual summer concert series June 5 with the band Thumpin’.
The annual Summer Concert Series provides free outdoor music featuring six concerts-in-the-park at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday evenings The concerts are held at the award-winning EB Rains Jr. Memorial Park across the street from the Northglenn Recreation Center and City Hall, 11701 Community Center Dr.
Food trucks will be at the park with goodies available to purchase.
The 2019 concert line up includes funk, soul, and R&B band Thumpin’ on June 5; the eclectic classic rock, R&B, disco, Motown, standard jazz ensemble Tunisia on June 12; horn-powered pop-rock with the The Martini Shot on June 19; dance-pop hits and rock classics with Blinker Fluid Band on June 26; blues, rock, funk, and soul with The Barrelors on July 10; and the always popular Hazel Miller Band on July 17.
The kick-off concert will also mark Northglenn’s 50th anniversary with a community iron pour event, “50 Years Forged in Iron.” The first 500 participants at the iron pour will be able to carve sculptures into wooden blocks and watch as molten iron is poured in. When it’s cooled, they’ll get to take home their artwork for free. The iron pour is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. and the concert will commence at 6:30 pm on the lawn at City Hall.
The concert series is sponsored by the Northglenn Arts and Humanities Foundation, SCFD, City of Northglenn and Colorado Creative Industries.
