An Adams County Sheriff's deputy fatally shot a suspect in an early morning pursuit of a stolen vehicle.

Just after midnight Jan. 26, deputies responded to a report of a stolen Jeep SUV, said an Adams County Sheriff's Office press release. They located it at I-76 westbound and east 88th Avenue in Irondale. However, the suspects got away.

Deputies eventually found the Jeep abandoned by east 25th Avenue and Imboden Road in the Watkins area. Police searched the area for suspects and found two adult female suspects. The sheriff's office press release continued, “During the contact deputies were alerted that the suspect had a gun. The suspect was fatally shot.”

The sheriff's office didn't offer any additional details, and said multiple agencies are involved in the investigation.
