Governor to recap State of the State address Jan. 16

Gov. Jared Polis is scheduled to recap his State of the State address for a Metro North Chamber of Commerce group Jan. 16 at the Waymire Dome.

Polis’ official State of the State address, where he updates legislators on his goals and the state’s progress since he took office year ago, is scheduled for 11 a.m. Jan. 9 at the State Legislature. The address leads into Colorado’s 120-day-long legislative session

Metro North CEO Dennis Houston said Polis’ Jan. 16 address in Brighton should be much the same as the official address, with added emphasis on the Metro North region.

The address to the chamber is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Waymire Dome at Adams County’s Riverdale Regional Park, 9755 Henderson Road in Brighton.

Tickets are $45 per person, which includes lunch. Tickets, group table purchases and sponsorship opportunities are available at metronorthchamber.com , the chamber’s website.

This will be Polis’ second State of the State address since his 2018 election.

His Governors Dashboard website, at dashboard.state.co.us, lists four key priorities for the coming year: tax reform and economic development, especially in rural parts of the state; making the state a leader in clean energy and converting to 100 percent renewable energy by the year 2040; reducing the cost of in-state health care; and overhauling the state’s education system. Part of that is providing free full-day kindergarten.
