Two Ravens place at state 4A wrestling tournament

PUEBLO --  Both of Riverdale Ridge's wrestlers placed at the state 4A wrestling tournament March 13 at Southwest Motors Events Center.

AJ Alexander Hague took fourth at 106 pounds.  He lost a tough, 2-1 decision to Pueblo East's LJ Herburger in the consolation finals.

Earlier in the tournament, Hague moved into the semifinals at 106 pounds with a 6-4 win over Mesa Ridge's Mickail Skeldurm. Hague scored the winning takedown as time ran out in the quarterfinal round match.

In the semifinal round, Thompson Valley's Jackzen Rairdon scored two points in the first period, added two more in the second and went on to a 4-0 win.  Hague beat Calvin Mendez of Skyline 9-2 in the quarterfinals.

Hague finished 14-3.

Drake Kiefer placed sixth at 132 pounds. Cheyenne Mountain's Chase Johnson nipped Kiefer 3-2 in the fifth-place match. Kiefer finished the season with a mark of 13-3.

Earlier in the tourney. Kiefer beat JT Gardner of Frederick 4-2 in the first round of consolation matches. Chase Johnson beat Kiefer 4-2 in the second round of consolations. Roman Smith of Lewis Palmer picked up a 12-2, major decision over Kiefer in the semifinal consolation round.
