DENVER -- Holy Family High School beat Eagle Ridge Academy 65-41 at the Denver Coliseum March 9 in the semifinals of the state 4A boys basketball tournament.
The win sends the Tigers into Saturday's finals against Resurrection Christian. Tip time is 11:45 a.m. at the Coliseum. The loss ends the Warriors' season.
Eric Quintana scored 16 points for HFHS, Jaxon Grable scored 15, while Rocco Bridges contributed 13. Gabe Tafoya added 11.
Peyton Torres led the Warriors with 11 points. Cameron Seifert was next with eight.
ERA committed 15 turnovers in the first half. Though the number came down in the second half, the Tigers were well in command by that point.
“We just had too many turnovers,” Warriors' forward J. Kyren Allen said. “We didn’t have enough energy to start the game. We didn’t run our plays at all, and that is the best way for us to score the ball.”
“It feels amazing,” Quintana said. “If we play together, no one can stop us. We’ve played together for so long. We know how to play off each other.”
"Ball pressure was the big thing for us. They are a huge team," said HFHS' Rocco Bridges. "Most of their offense was drive to the middle and try to get a layup. They couldn't get by us. We have a competitive spirit. That's what held them to a low scoring game."
