DENVER – Holy Family High School turned on the defense against Delta in the third quarter of their elite 8 playoff game at the Denver Coliseum March 3.
The Tigers turned 10 Delta miscues into a dozen points and won the game 55-31. The win puts the defending state 4A champions into the semifinals against Lutheran High School. Tip time is 2:15 p.m. Thursday, March 9, at the Denver Coliseum
The first half was fairly even. HFHS scored seven of the last 10 points in the second quarter and forged a 21-15 lead at the break.
Essynce Contreraz led Holy Family with 11 points. Julia Hodell scored eight. Sawyer Dana and Alexcia Oaxaca added six. So did freshman Gracie Ward. Taylor Somers and Breezy Huff scored nine points to lead the Panthers. Tatem Miller and Aadrey Fraser scored four.
