Postponements

Both the boys and girls basketball games between Fort Lupton and Thornton high schools,  set for Feb. 25, were called off because of bad weather. Thornton's school district was closed because of a Feb. 24 snowstorm.

The boys game will be made up at 7 p.m. Monday, March 1, in Fort Lupton.

Boys basketball

Aurora Central beat Thornton 69-44 Feb. 27 in Thornton. No stats were immediately available.

Greeley Central beat the Trojans 51-32 in Greeley Feb. 25. No stats were available for THS. The Wildcats' top scorer was Isaiah Flores, who threw in 16 points.

Thornton topped John F. Kennedy High School 53-44 in Thornton Feb. 23. Gio Ornelas had 17 for the Trojans. Ron Gallegos had 16 for the Commanders. Orlando Valdez added 11.

Wrestling

Thornton  beat Fruita Monument 45-24 in a three-way meet in Thornton Feb. 24. On-mat winners for the Trojans were Arthur Martinez (120 pounds), Isaac Ibarra (138), Zack Zuniga (152), Deshon Gallegos (160), Estevan Rivera (170), Kevin Armenta (182) and Brandon Gutierrez (195).

THS also beat Northglenn 63-18 in that three-way meet. THS' on-mat winners were Chris Moreno (113), Martinez, Ibarra, Gallegos, Rivera, Armenta and Gutierrez.

Girls basketball

Thornton beat the homestanding Aurora Central Trojans 63-42 Feb. 27. Aryannah McClain led ACHS with 19 points. Zan'ae Hodges added a dozen.
