One teacher at Mapleton School of the Arts in Thornton wants three graphing calculators for her math students. Another teacher, at Kunsmiller Creative Arts Academy in Denver wants three camcorders in order to start creating short films at the school and helping to establish a film program at the school.
These wishes and more are listed on the Internet website Donors Choose (), where individuals may give donations toward making the teachers' dreams come true. Half the battle is already won for these wishes, plus one more project in Colorado Springs because AT&T is pledging to match half the money needed. As part of AT&T's commitment to education through AT&T Aspire, the company is matching $250,000 for classroom projects under $2,000 at the highest needs schools around the nation. Once the selected projects receive half of the funding, AT&T will fund the other half, a spokesman said.
