Weinmaster fired a 1-under 69. He birdied a pair of par-5 holes, the 558-yard ninth hole and the 601-yard 16th hole. He also picked up a birdie on the par-4 10th hole, which measured 380 yards.
Sophomore Will Balliet, who qualified a year ago for state, is in a fifth-place tie after shooting a first round 72. His birdues were on the par-4, 394-yard 11th hole and on the par-5, 472-yard 13th hole.
Aiden Sweeney finished his opening round with a 75. His lone birdie was on the 13th hole. Freshman Carter Seis carded an 84.
At 3:50 p.m., two golfers had not finished their first rounds.
